Where does the event take place?
The 2025 event took place in the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff, on Friday 16th May 2025.
The 2026 event is yet to be announced.
What are the entry requirements for the awards?
We welcome nominations from individuals and teams from relevant sectors. Your company / organisation must be in Wales. Nominate yourself or nominate others, the choice is yours. Simply complete the online nomination form and we’ll be in touch if you’re shortlisted.
How does the judging process work?
Applications are to be received by the closing date.
Following receipt of entries, the Judges will draw up a shortlist of finalists for each award.
The finalists will then be interviewed in-person in Cardiff, at a shortlist interview (typically in a slot in one of 3 days) by the panel of judges (which will also possibly include one independent judge representing the award sponsor).
Winners will be announced on the night.
What are the award categories?
The Finance Awards Wales have the following awards in 2025:
- CFO / Finance Director of the Year
- Young Finance Director of the Year
- Financial Controller/Financial Manager of the Year
- Accountant of the Year
- Finance Apprentice of the Year
- Accounts Technician of the Year
- Rising Star of the Year
- Small Finance Team of the Year (up to 10 staff within team)
- Medium/Large Finance Team (more than 11 staff)
- Finance Team of the Year – Third Sector
- Independent Practice of the Year
- Payroller of the Year
- Finance Project of the Year
- Public Sector Team of the Year
- ESG Excellence Award
The Finance Awards Wales 2025 will be chosen from the winners of all the above categories.
In addition, there will be an Outstanding Contribution award that will be chosen by the judges and will recognise an individual or organisation that has had a major influence and impact on the finance business community in Wales.
What is the dress code for the ceremony?
The dress code for the ceremony is black tie.
What are the event timings?

19.30 – Welcome speeches
